This presentation is part of the "Off Picnic", which is a kind of counter-event to the Picnic, a gathering of the global "creative industry". Here is the description I offered (they might modify it for the official description).

Gift Economics

In the Age of Money, any mention of a return to a gift-based economy might seem hopelessly naive. Yet, the money system as we have known it is slowly unraveling, offering the opportunity to create something new. During this Off Picnic day, we will host a gathering of visionaries to explore the New Economy, new kinds of currency that might underlie it, and the "spirit of the gift" that lies at its foundation. We can feel its pull already, both in social movements such as Open Source, freecycling, and couchsurfing, as well as in our desire to contribute to something greater than ourselves, to do it for more than just money, to fulfill and pass on our own gifts for the benefit of humanity and the planet. Join us today to begin telling the story of a world of the Gift.
